About | UsSundew Design was started in 2010 by Rachel Bechhoefer and Neil Reilley.
Rachel is a designer and garden professional with more than 15 years of experience. She excels at combining hands-on experience in the garden with an understanding of the oversight and management of a property that comes from being a designer and master planner. As a designer and gardener, Rachel has experience in efficient irrigation system design, native and adapted plants drought-tolerant, whole systems design, incorporating such elements as rainwater diversion and gray water systems. Her hands on horticulture experience includes maintaining formal gardens, directing volunteers and other gardeners, planting, propagation, organic vegetable gardening, sheet mulching, composting. She has worked in public gardens and retail greenhouses, on small farms and in commercial landscape maintenance. She is most at home puttering in her own garden. Her sense for design and her desire to bring beauty to every task she takes on come through in every aspect of her personal and professional life. She has a keen eye for detail and composition as a visual artist and landscape photographer. Neil is the muscle behind the operation. He has an in-depth understanding of the construction trades from design to build out, with hands on expertise in installation and maintenance. Quite capable of operating heavy and light equipment, including tractors, backhoes, 3-point implements, and light machinery, he also maintains the tools, vehicles, and manages the fleet. Spending many summers on the York Ranch as a young person, wrangling, mending fences, he gained a life long appreciation for the Western lifestyle. He grew up in Wyoming, backpacking in the Snowy Range, fishing in the Wind Rivers, and riding through the Red Desert and remains an avid outdoorsman to this day. |
